Inspiration | Edward Shammas

I grew up in Toronto until I was in grade 2, before moving to Kuwait in the 90s. Growing up there was a gift...it immersed me in the beautiful culture and traditions that have shaped the person I am today. On weekends, I was often asked to engage younger children during family gatherings, an experience that taught me patience, creativity, and effective ways to connect with children. That patience grew into my love for teaching. My inspiration comes from my lived experiences. I write children’s books to help kids see themselves in stories, feel proud of their roots, and celebrate the beauty of Arab culture. I’m thankful to call both Canada and Kuwait home, two places that hold a special place in my heart.

كبرت بتورونتو،كندا لغايه الصفّ الثاني إبتدائي، وبعدها انتقلت للعيش فى الكويت بالتسعينيات لاكثر من ١٥ عاما. الحياه فى ا الكويت كانت كهدية غاليه فى حياتي، لأنها عر فتنى على ثقافة وتقاليد جميلة جدا اعتز بها. بعطلة نهاية الأسبوع، كنتُ غالبًا أساعد في الاهتمام بالأولاد الصغار من خلال التجمعات العائلية التى علّمتني الصبر، والإبداع، وكيفيه التواصل مع الأطفال بطريقة بناءه، ومع الوقت زاد حبّي فى تعليم الاطفال. كما أن الهامي من تجاربي العمليه في الحياة دفعنى الى كتابه قصص تعليميه شيقه للأطفال لمساعدتهم فى التعرف على شخصيتهم من خلال هذه القصص و ان يشعرو بالفخر والاعتزاز بجذورهم و بجمال اللغه والثقافة العربية. انا اعتبر كندا والكويت كوطنين اعزاء لى وشاكرا لهم، لأنهم تركوا أثرا ايجابيا كبيرا فى حياتى.
